As the semester comes to and end and summer elbows its way in, I find myself more and more anxious to get out on the road again. Summer road trips with the top down are what I live for. One more week and I’ll be free to send myself hurtling towards California once again.

Got up early, braved the cold and hiked out to this lighthouse in Manitowoc WI. Was rewarded with one of the most stunning sunrises I’ve been able to capture.

This is a 44 image HDR panoramic image of the Capitol building. This has been downsampled to 4k width so that it’s not stupidly large. I’m playing around with HDR panoramas at the moment and this one turned out pretty well.

Odana road in Madison, wi. We recently got heavy rain with a lot of flooding, this photo speaks for itself on the damage to the city.

As a resident of Chicago, I enjoy watching the skyline at night. I think Chicago has the best skyline in the U.S. It is a marvel of modern architecture. I also enjoy watching it from a distance, across the lake. I did a photography exercise and took a photo from nearby Belmont Harbor. Obviously not the best shot of Chicago, but still stunning.

Lake Michigan is beautiful regardless of seasons. I took this photo on a walk along the lake in the fall.

It was New Year’s Eve, and we really wanted to find a place to watch the sun go down on Chicago. Naturally, every other view was either booked, or crazy expensive. Then, we found the Signature Room in the John Hancock Center. The sun had just set when this photo was taken, and soon the new year countdown would begin. Chicago is bustling by day, but awe-inspiring at night- especially looking at the city from above- here’s a unique view of Michigan Avenue, one of Chicago’s most prolific locations.

The glass in the John Hancock building is surprisingly dirty, casting the interiors in a 70’s sepia light.
